What insurances are accepted?
All major insurances are accepted including all Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans including State Plan, Federal BCBS etc.; Medicare; AETNA; CIGNA. However, we currently do not accept Medicaid or UnitedHealthcare patients. We do see patients with a referral from the Veteran’s Administration. If you have a high co-payment/deductible or no insurance, please call our office and speak to our staff. Supportive/Maintenance care is often a non-covered service and you may only have to pay our nominal out-of-pocket fees.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes, we offer a discount to our active duty military service members and their immediate family members. Tricare does not currently cover chiropractic care.
What can I expect in my first visit?
Our courteous staff will obtain medical and insurance information from you both verbally and via paperwork. Once your data is entered into an electronic health record, our Chiropractic Assistants (CA) will take your height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate. The doctor will then take a thorough medical history, perform a complete orthopedic neurological examination on the areas of complaint. She will then discuss her findings, opinions of your condition(s), and give you a proposed care plan. If X-rays or other diagnostic testing is indicated, she will make those necessary referrals (any diagnostic imaging done in the past is useful information. X-rays are not needed in every case in order to be treated). If physiological therapeutics are indicated, our certified CAs will perform them. These often will reduce spasm, pain, inflammation, and speed tissue healing. In some cases, decompressive traction is needed to alleviate some nerve symptoms. The doctor will then adjust you after all of the prescribes therapy is complete.
Do you do manual adjustments?
Yes. Dr. Driscoll is trained in Diversified Spinal Manipulation and Cox Distraction Technique. She also uses Thompson Drop and Blocking techniques. When manual adjustments are contraindicated or not comfortable for the patient, she uses an Impulse IQ™ adjusting instrument with Intelli-Adjusting™ technology. This is a precise, highly advanced electronic adjusting device that can move bones in a lower force manner.
What does all the popping mean?
"Popping" is a phenomenon called cavitation. This means that it is a release of nitrogen from the joint caused by pressure changes elicited by the gapping of the joint during an adjustment. It is safe and does not cause damage. Lack of a "pop" does not indicate a failed adjustment.
What ages of people do you care for?
All ages! Chiropractic care is needed at all ages. Our techniques are modified based on age and other health factors to achieve maximum results in the safest way possible. Dr. Driscoll has experience in treating newborns and all the way up to people in their 90's.
What will I feel after my first adjustment?
Most people experience transient relief of their symptoms that lasts for a few hours. This is commonly followed by a period of soreness similar to the discomfort that you feel after returning to the gym after not exercising for awhile. If you feel pain, please call the office because this is not an expected response. Most people also report sleeping better following an adjustment. If you have an acute injury, when your pain does return, it can feel worse for a short time because our bodies usually accommodate to long term pain. It isn’t actually worse. You perceive it as being worse. Once your body begins to heal with repeated treatments, there shouldn’t be as much pain or soreness in general.
